VSP Press Release
Sacramento CA, April 15, 2008 – The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has renewed its Certification for VSP® Vision Care’s Credentialing through 2010. NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to measuring the quality of healthcare in the United States.
As part of the credentialing process, VSP’s 25,000 private-practice network eye doctors must provide evidence of high standards in the areas of license certification, malpractice history and professional ethics.
“The renewed certification is a testament that patients receive quality care when seeing a VSP doctor,” said Cheryl Johnson, VP for Health Care Services. “VSP is committed to comprehensive eyecare and overall body health, and this is a key indicator of the quality of our network administration, infrastructure, and the individual doctors on our network.”
VSP’s family of companies includes VSP Vision Care, the only not-for-profit managed vision care company in the United States serving 55 million members; VSP Labs, industry leaders in new technologies, production processes, service and logistics; Altair, the only frame company that exclusively supports private-practice eye doctors; and Eyefinity, offering private practices innovative solutions to improve overall practice management and the patient experience.
Since 1997, VSP has provided more than 450,000 low-income, uninsured children with free eyecare. Through relationships with the American Diabetes Association, Prevent Blindness America and the Center for Health Transformation, VSP promotes the importance of annual eye exams for maintaining eye health and overall wellness.
